It was a choice that I have to make eventually because alot had happened after the change of internal managements. I thought about quiting last year (2010) but one of my good colleague in the management adviced me to stay on because the change of acting directors might be good. Plus, I was told that my new director had vast experience in the design industry because he was in a well-known advertising agency for the past 8-10 years of his career as a director. I thought it might benefit me because I might be able to learn & grow faster if he can closely monitor (I was told that he is my direct boss) my work.
The company was handed over to 2 directors, 1 male (B) & 1 female (A), with A having more say when comes to company decision-making. The first few months were pretty much busy & everything seem to be going through good transitions until... my colleague in the management team told me she resigned!
I questioned her regarding her decision & she told me some SHOCKING news.
B was actually bad-mouthing about her working capabilities to the management of our sister-company. She only got to know when the management people from our sister-company called her privately to check if what B said to them is true. My colleague was super pissed. I heard from her that I was being criticized too in EVERY meeting from B. WTH?! Which director backstabs staff? If we are not up to your standard at least inform us so that we are aware and can work harder to meet your requirements and not talk behind our back to other people or directors! The unbelievable fact was that my colleague mentioned that B actually brought it up to A almost on every management meeting. I was said to be "expensive & inexperienced" but I heard that A wanted to take a look at my work first before making any remarks. At least she is being fair and not judge me because of what others say. I was assigned a new project for our new line of products & she was actually happy with my work, enough said.
All these while B have been wearing a mask in front of all of us telling us about life & the great Christ. Acting all holy & stuff but is actually a demon in disguised. How scary can people get?
Why so hypocritical?!
The next thing that happened was all the staff in the office received an email from B congratulating my colleague on her recent promotion. WTF my colleague resigned & now they are officially announcing her promotion? After talking to my colleague again, she clearly state that she did not accept their offer of taking up the Marketing Manager role on top of her current job. Firstly they did not adjust her pay but added ALOT of EXTRA work to her current ones. Anw my colleague left the company for good and I'm happy for her.
Whenever there was anyone leaving, his/her jobscope will be split & re-distributed to the ones left in the department. (if not to another department if there is no one left) Why can't they find replacements? Cutting costs at the expense of other staff?? Eventually they will over-work & resign. That's the main problem happening in the company now.
They need to hire someone like this:
The management wants me to re-consider my resignation and continued to paint beautiful pictures of the my future in the company but judging from the current state the company is in, I can only say "not gonna happen soon." Whatever, I've made up my mind to leave.
After verbally rejecting my AGM a few times politely, she said:
"Alright, I'm telling you all these & asking you to reconsider your resignation is because the company does not want you to say that when you resigned we did not try to keep you, we want you to feel that you are valuable to the company, I mean, everyone in the company is valuable in different ways. Since you have made up your mind then there's nothing we can do but respect your decision. OK I accept your resignation" -Seriously WTF...
So is she trying to say that she is asking me to re-consider my resignation out of formality? So that I feel valued?? So that you can answer to the directors??? There is clearly something wrong with the management here! 5 staff (still counting) resigned one after another (including myself) for the past 2 months, all due to conflict with the management (we've discussed & spoken among ourselves).
I shall stop here, these are only part of the entire story. Don't feel like ranting anymore cuz it just made my blood boil. Need to cool down for now. My decision to resign was not decided based on what my colleague told me but on what my eyes have been telling me, I have eyes to see for myself.
It's time to move on. Where to? No where yet but pack up first.
