Riding the Hallyu Wave 2010: Hong Kong Day 2

Continued from Day 1

Day 2 of our trip started with a satisfying breakfast opposite my hostel. I went out of the the restaurant after ordering my share to explore the nearby landmarks and take some photos, leaving the 2 girls some time to gossip while waiting for the food.

 Appetizing? Macaroni in minestrone soup with toasts,

hot dog & sunnyside up. Soy bean milk sold separately.

 

We caught up with my secondary school classmate Weixin, who moved back to Hong Kong and is working as a air stewardess now! She offered to show us around on her off day =) & bring us to good food! It's been years we saw each other and she is still as chirpy as before~ 

*after looking through the photos I realized that we did not take a photo together!! wasted.

The famous LONG escalator broke down! What luck~

But only the first flight at the bottom broke down. The rest are working *phew*

At the end of the LONG escalator ride, we came across this HUGE poster on an art exhibition DETOUR that was held in the VICTORIA PRISON. Yes PRISON! Sounds interesting and so we checked it out!

DETOUR is an annual large-scale event that showcases avant-garde design and artwork from local Hong Kong talents and international artists.I heard it was held the old Married Police Quarters in Central in year 2009. You mean there is a place to house Married Police?!?!

The interesting & impressive portion of DETOUR is the use of unique public spaces for showcasing talents & their masterpieces.

Saw this cool coffee-making machine using different colored capsules
to make different types of coffee. *Saw them in Sg now..
